scanner: emit ERROR_TOKEN on I/O failure instead of silent EOF (#10294)
`scanner::scan()` was returning `EOF_TOKEN` when the underlying stream
had `badbit` set, making a failed read (EIO, ENOSPC, etc.)
indistinguishable from a clean end-of-file. Z3 would silently produce no
output with exit code 0.

## Root cause

`std::istream::gcount()` returns 0 for both normal EOF and I/O failure.
`read_char()` returned -1 in both cases, and `scan()`'s `-1` handler
unconditionally set `EOF_TOKEN`.

## Fix

### `src/parsers/util/scanner.cpp`
Check `m_stream.bad()` in the `-1` case; emit an error message and
`ERROR_TOKEN` on failure:

```cpp
case static_cast<char>(-1):
    if (m_stream.bad()) {
        m_err << "ERROR: I/O failure while reading input stream.\n";
        m_state = ERROR_TOKEN;
    } else {
        m_state = EOF_TOKEN;
    }
    break;
```

### `src/test/scanner_io.cpp` (new)
Regression test (ported from the `io_test` branch) verifying:
1. A good stream scans to completion (`n > 0` tokens).
2. A stream with `badbit` pre-set produces `ERROR_TOKEN` or a non-empty
error message rather than silent EOF.

### `src/test/main.cpp` + `src/test/CMakeLists.txt`
Register `tst_scanner_io` in the `FOR_EACH_ALL_TEST` macro and add
`scanner_io.cpp` to the build.

Make implicit switch case fall-throughs explicit (#10284)
This is another PR towards the goal of getting Z3 to compile cleanly
when included via FetchContents into clang-tidy, which uses a pretty
strict set of warnings.

This PR enable the "-Wimplicit-fallthrough" warning, then fix all the
warnings this gets
in the clang build, by:
* Augmenting UNREACHABLE to add __builtin_unreachable(), which
suppresses
warnings for fallthrough in that cse.
* Adding Z3_fallthrough in many cases, to make it clear that
fallthroughs are intentional.
* Adding [[noreturn]] to functions that throw, so the compiler knows
they don't fall through to the next case.
* In a couple of cases, there's a fall-through to a default case, which
does "break", or "return nullptr". In those cases, I duplicated the
action in the preceding case, to make it more self-contained, and robust
in the face of change.

In some cases, I am concerned about whether the warnings are identifying
real bugs. For example, the fall-throughs in these files seem at least a
little suspect:
nnf.cpp
seq_rewriter.cpp
lar_solver.cpp

while very probably correct, also seem at least a tiny bit suspect.
However, this PR does *not* attempt to change any behavior, only to
silence the warnings. It would be great if somebody with more knowledge
of the code could vet these cases. If vetted, the explicit presence of
the Z3_fallthrough would reassure future readers of the code that the
fall-through is intentional, not accidental.

Remove unnecessary semicolons (Attempt 2) (#10020)
This is another PR towards the goal of getting Z3 to compile cleanly
when included via FetchContents into clang-tidy, which uses a pretty
strict set of warnings.

This is a second version of https://github.com/Z3Prover/z3/pull/9957. I
address @NikolajBjorner 's comments about not changing the semicolons
after macro invocations, because some editors work better with them
present. It now, to the best of my ability, only deletes semis:

* after the closing brace of namespace decl.
* after the closing brace of an extern "C" decl.
* after a function definition.

This PR is very large, but it consists entirely of deletions of
semicolons in these situations.

(If there was a way to update the previous PR, which had been closed,
and that is preferable, please let me know. I couldn't figure it out.)

Fix off-by-one column after comment lines in SMT2 scanner (#9808)
This bug was discovered by claude analyzing the descrepency of outputs
in https://github.com/Z3Prover/bench/discussions/2516. The benchmark was
edited - a line required stats was commented out - and this exposed the
scanner inconsistent behavior.
read_comment and read_multiline_comment handled end-of-line newlines as
new_line(); next();, the reverse of the main scan() loop's next();
new_line();. This left m_spos one higher on the line following a
comment, shifting every reported column on that line by +1 (e.g. a (pop)
error reported column 5 instead of 4 when the previous line was a
comment). Reorder both comment readers to match scan() so column numbers
are consistent regardless of whether the preceding line is a comment.

Add SMT-LIB choice support via array OP_CHOICE and instantiate choice axioms in array solvers (#9649)
This change wires SMT-LIB Hilbert choice parsing to a concrete
array-theory operator and ensures both array backends enforce the
expected semantic axiom. Previously, `(choice ((x T)) phi)` parsed as
NYI and had no solver-side instantiation path.

- **Parser: lower `choice_k` into array `OP_CHOICE`**
- `pop_quant_frame(choice_k)` now builds `(choice p)` instead of
throwing.
- Added parser include/use of array utilities to construct the term
directly from the generated lambda predicate.

- **Array decl plugin: add `OP_CHOICE` typing + surface syntax**
  - Added declaration support for `choice` with signature:
- `(Array T Bool) -> T` (encoded as `('a -> Bool) -> 'a` in HO view).
- Added recognizer/util helpers (`is_choice`, `mk_choice`) and exposed
`"choice"` in op names.

- **SMT array theory (`theory_array_full`): instantiate choice axiom**
  - Added instantiation for each encountered `choice(p)`:
    - `forall x . p(x) => p(choice(p))`
  - Integrated into internalization/relevancy paths and statistics.

- **SAT/SMT array backend (`sat/smt/array_*`): instantiate choice
axiom**
- Added new axiom record kind for choice, internalization hook,
assertion routine, and diagnostics/stat tracking.
  - Uses the same quantified implication schema as above.

- **Regression coverage**
- Extended SMT2 parser regression with an HO `choice` example to ensure
parser/eval pipeline accepts and processes choice terms.

Example of the now-supported input:

```smt2
(set-logic HO_ALL)
(declare-sort U 0)
(declare-fun P () (-> U Bool))
(assert (exists ((x U)) (P x)))
(assert (= witness (choice ((x U)) (P x))))
```

smt2parser: realign pop_app_frame non-expr_head else block indentation (#9646)
This updates a formatting regression introduced in the `pop_app_frame`
non-`expr_head` path, where block indentation made control flow harder
to read. The patch is whitespace-only and keeps parser behavior
unchanged.

- **What changed**
- Reindented the `else` body in
`src/parsers/smt2/smt2parser.cpp::pop_app_frame` so nested `if/else`
structure is visually unambiguous.
- Removed trailing spaces on the `m_ctx.mk_app(symbol("select"), ...)`
lines in the same block.

- **Scope**
  - No control-flow, data-flow, or API changes.
  - No changes outside `pop_app_frame`.

```cpp
// Before
else {
local l;
if (m_env.find(fr->m_f, l)) {
    ...
}
else {
    ...
}
}
// After
else {
    local l;
    if (m_env.find(fr->m_f, l)) {
        ...
    }
    else {
        ...
    }
}
```

SMT2 front-end: accept HO_ALL and normalize curried expression-head applications (#9636)
The SMT2 front-end rejected valid higher-order inputs using `HO_ALL` and
failed on curried applications where the function position is itself an
expression (e.g., `((transfer top) 0)`).
This update adds `HO_ALL` support and makes curried parsing consistently
lower to implicit `select` chains.

- **Logic recognition**
  - Treat `HO_ALL` as an `ALL`-class logic in SMT logic classification.
- This unblocks `(set-logic HO_ALL)` in the standard SMT2 command path.

- **Curried application parsing**
- Extend application-frame handling to support parenthesized expression
heads, not only symbol heads.
- When the head is an expression, parse application arguments normally
and construct nested implicit selects:
    - `(f a b)` → `(select (select f a) b)`
- Preserve existing behavior for symbol-based applications, qualified
identifiers, and lambda-led forms.

- **Regression coverage**
- Add a focused parser/eval regression using the reported higher-order
case to lock in behavior.

```smt2
(set-logic HO_ALL)
(declare-fun transfer () (-> (-> Int Bool) (-> Int Bool)))
(assert (forall ((P (-> Int Bool))) (=> (P 0) ((transfer P) 0))))
(declare-fun top () (-> Int Bool))
(assert (forall ((x Int)) (top x)))
(assert (not ((transfer top) 0)))
(check-sat)
```

Centralize and document TRACE tags using X-macros (#7657)
* Introduce X-macro-based trace tag definition
- Created trace_tags.def to centralize TRACE tag definitions
- Each tag includes a symbolic name and description
- Set up enum class TraceTag for type-safe usage in TRACE macros

* Add script to generate Markdown documentation from trace_tags.def
- Python script parses trace_tags.def and outputs trace_tags.md

* Refactor TRACE_NEW to prepend TraceTag and pass enum to is_trace_enabled

* trace: improve trace tag handling system with hierarchical tagging

- Introduce hierarchical tag-class structure: enabling a tag class activates all child tags
- Unify TRACE, STRACE, SCTRACE, and CTRACE under enum TraceTag
- Implement initial version of trace_tag.def using X(tag, tag_class, description)
  (class names and descriptions to be refined in a future update)

* trace: replace all string-based TRACE tags with enum TraceTag
- Migrated all TRACE, STRACE, SCTRACE, and CTRACE macros to use enum TraceTag values instead of raw string literals

* trace : add cstring header

* trace : Add Markdown documentation generation from trace_tags.def via mk_api_doc.py

* trace : rename macro parameter 'class' to 'tag_class' and remove Unicode comment in trace_tags.h.

* trace : Add TODO comment for future implementation of tag_class activation

* trace : Disable code related to tag_class until implementation is ready (#7663).
